This afternoon, it`s time to close the front door, stride down the road, walk off some of those calories you ate yesterday and cheer on our football club.

In a traditional festive fixture, the Boxing Day match, Fulham entertain Southampton, at Craven Cottage.

With those wonderful chaps that drive the Tube trains going on strike, we really should look on the bright side and instead of criticising them; suggest that we all make our journey to Craven Cottage something of a pub-crawl.

Although many, after our recent run of results, might infer that they`ve already turned to the demon drink!

Southampton though, although not counting our chickens before they`ve hatched, should be beatable and we should be able to improve on our poor recent run of 4 points out of the last 27 available.

But, if we are to come out of this current slump, we`ll need to, Martin Jol believes, keep Dimitar Berbatov happy, or as Jol puts it,

“If things are going well then everyone will be happy with him but if things are not going well then he can be unhappy.”

“Dimitar is almost used to winning games at the clubs where he was before so we have to talk to him. He has to put in the same attitude and work rate that he did previously.”

“When he does that there`s no problem but he is certainly a player who we have to keep on his toes and hope he does well for us. We were very happy with him for the first couple of months.”

Perhaps if we could get the ball to him in more advanced positions it might help.
