The opportunity for Giles Barnes to make a permanent switch to Craven Cottage may have passed.
SkySports reports that Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that without having the opportunity to see him play first-team football, he (Hodgson) would be reluctant to sign the 20-year-old midfielder, currently on loan from Derby County.
It`s been a terrible run of luck for Barnes, who is currently battling an Achilles injury. Hodgson has praised the youngster`s improved fitness and general attitude, but admits that it would be a gamble to sign him under these circumstances.
Let`s hope Barnes can drag himself onto the pitch for the last few games of this campaign and have the opportunity to make a positive impression on the coaching staff.
I think Roy is taking the correct approach to this situation – how ’bout you?
