Fulham – Those Red Cards?

Watching Rafa Benitez solemnly trudge across the Craven Cottage pitch last night, you cannot help but feel for the man.

His empire is crumbling around him and any hopes of winning an elusive first Premier League title are evaporating in a sea of early defeats.

Knowing Rafa though, I ‘m pretty certain he`ll weather the storm and yesterday circumstances certainly contrived to deprive him of two valuable players late on.

Whilst I`ll admit I was baying with the rest of them when those red cards were held aloft, red cards that saw Degen and then Carragher, take a long walk, watching re-runs of the incidents on Match of the Day last night, I have to admit they were a little harsh.

In fact if the shoe had been on the other foot I`d have been as equally livid as Rafa was.

Following the game Rafa has announced that Liverpool will be appealing against the red cards, with Rafa remarking,

“We will try to appeal against both red cards because for me it`s very clear that Carragher was kicking the ball and the other one Degen was not kicking the player.”

A little part of me hopes that they succeed because no matter what happens now they`ll never be able to take away those three points will they – magic!
