It`s weird how some clubs play a major part in other clubs fortunes.
Last season, as everyone knows, we were in dire straits as the Sunderland fixture (at Craven Cottage) approached.
We were slipping into a relegation quagmire very few thought we could haul ourselves out of. A victory, against Sunderland, was seen as essential if we were to survive.
As it turns out we put in a performance that was amongst the worst we`d produced all season and lost 3-1. It`s a fact not lost on the returning David Healy who remarked, ahead of the clash tomorrow,
“That was the game which changed everything for Fulham last season.”
“From then on we went on an incredible run.”
“People had written us off and said we were down, so the pressure was off in a sense. It was a great escape.”
This season we face Sunderland with our form again being questioned, we`ve lost four on the trot (three Premier League and one Carling Cup) and, like we`ve said previously, need a win against Sunderland.
Hopefully, this time around we`ll get a result against them and not use a defeat against them to launch an unprecedented run of results.
