After our Europa League Final hopes were dashed on the rocks, it would appear that Roy Hodgson could be on the verge of spending some of the cash the campaign generated.

The News of the World carries an article that implies that the Bristol City forward, Nicky Maynard, is Roy`s target with a bid, in the region of, £4.5 million on the table.

Maynard, a product of the Crewe Academy, has hit more than 30 goals for the Ashton Gate side in the last two seasons.

We`ll see how this one develops shall we?

  • dont know if he will cut it in the top flight but I m sure Roy knows best and what about A J how is he progresing surely he should be back next season

  • Seems too much. You could probably spend £4m and land Steven Fletcher from Burnley. He’s the same age as Maynard and we already know he’s got the quality for the Prem.

  • No single player could keep Burnley up. Fletcher scored 8 League goals (same as Zamora) with very little support and his setup work was excellent. You need only watch the final match versus Spurs to see his quality, and he didn’t even score in that one.

  • we always seem to get players from relergated clubs ok with swartzer and duff we did ok but still I think we could do better
true one man dose not make a team but a great keeper and a 20 goles a season man sure helps

  • teddy i tend to agree with you… fletcher impressed me when we played burnley… he rattle the bar with a strike that came from nowhere… he’s prem proven, and if he’s the same age as maynard, why not?

  • I would be more than happy if he turned up at the Cottage. Whilst his goals have come at a tier below our own, he looks particularly special and, at his age, adaption comes a little more easily.
