Although Fulham had lost their previous two Premier League games, at home to Crystal Palace and away to Tottenham Hotspur, there had been glimpses that the Cottagers were on the right track.
Yesterday, in a six-goal thriller, Fulham emerged 4-2 victors against a Burnley side who pushed us all the way.
One of the stars of the show was our Serbian striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who netted a brace and could have hit a hat-trick if the post hadn’t of denied him in the second half.
After the game, and as reported by the BBC, Mitrovic had this to say about the game:
“It was a tough game. Every goal is a nice goal and a great feeling but the most important thing is we grab the three points and give the fans a nice afternoon.
“We have so many new players. They came from different leagues and some don’t speak English but this is the best league, we want to stay with the best and we will work hard to do that.
“No matter what we do, we will stick to our system and that will give us more confidence to stay in this league.”
As an aside, it’s worth pointing out that since joining Fulham, back in February, Mitrovic has scored 15 league goals, only Mo Salah, in the top four tiers of English football, can match that feat.
