Never again will I question the wisdom of sending a player on loan to a particular club!

Ever since I queried why David Stockdale was sent out on loan to Plymouth I`ve been made to eat huge slices of humble pie.

Now it appears that after making 5 appearances for ‘The Pilgrims` he culd be set for an extended stay with Plymouth keen to hang on to their new keeper.

Speaking about the situation the Argyle boss, Paul Mariner, has remarked,

“We`re trying to extend his loan and it`s looking extremely positive.”

“He has fitted into the squad very well and he has proven to everybody that he`s very commanding in the box.”

It appears that Roy Hodgson will be requested to make a decision after Plymouth have played Swansea tonight.

We`ll do our utmost to keep you informed of any developments!

  • I think these loans deals are great for experience but lets keep reminding ourselves that he is the No.1 goalie of the future. We appear to have invested alot in him so lets not keep him out there too long, if not he might want to move permanently, if a good offer comes in from another prem club! There a very few english prem goalies out there!

  • keeping him is top priority, as schwarzer can only get older… but i think a longer loan deal is in the cards, as the current deal is working for everyone involved…

  • I agree with Al Billy, at present it is good experience for him, but we may need him back at some point…

  • also we need back up our stand in keeper is not been tested in english football and he is geting on a bit too

  • have we not got a couple of younger good goalies. both internationals. one for England u18 the other a country abroad?
So with Stockdale as number 1 in afew years could we not groom one of these lads as no.2 and 3? or would they be too young?
