With the Bullard cash in the bank, Roy Hodgson has wasted no time in spending a little bit.

Several news agencies have confirmed that Fulham have snapped up twenty year old Ben Wright from non-league football.

Wright, who plays for the delightfully named Hampton & Richmond Borough, was scheduled to have a trial at Fulham next week but with other league clubs sniffing around, decided to plunge in and buy the lad.

The fee hasn`t been declared but judging from the cryptic comments made by Alan Devonshire, the current manager of Hampton & Richmond Borough (and the ex-West Ham legend), we`re able to guess that it is somewhere between £40k and a £100k with Devonshire remarking,

‘It is more than the £40,000 we got previously, but not that much more and certainly not a six-figure sum.’

‘As soon as he settles in to training every day they are going to start seeing some special things from the lad.”

‘He has made such progress in the four months he has been here, so I wouldn’t say a Premier League appearance this season is beyond him.”

‘When I moved to West Ham I was told I’d be in the reserves for a year, but injuries meant I made my debut after three weeks.”

‘We are disappointed to lose him because he was winning games on his own, he has been that good.’

Ben Wright, welcome to Fulham Football Club.
