As speculated yesterday Fulham were indeed looking at signing the Arsenal centre back – Philippe Senderos as the Swiss centre-back put pen to paper on a three year deal.

At twenty-five years of age the centre back obviously believed he`d gone as far as he could at Arsenal after falling out of favour.

Last season Senderos spent time on loan at Everton but is pleased to be joining Fulham and has remarked in an interview given to the official site,

“I`m delighted to have finalized my transfer to Fulham earlier today and happy that I am joining the club during the most successful period in its history.”

“I will look forward to meeting up with my new team mates and off course Roy Hodgson a manager I respect very much, shortly after the World Cup.”

“I very much hope I can contribute over the next few seasons and that the club goes on to achieve more success.”

And so do we young man, welcome to Fulham Football Club.

  • I’m pleased with this one. He needs to improve his game a little, but at 25, his best years are to come. He’s not the quickest player, so positional smarts are important. No better teacher than Hodgson, so let’s hope Roy stays with us for a while.

  • I wasn’t impressed in the little we saw of him, but in fairness he never got a run in the side.

  • He may have the same problem here, with no extra European games this season if we keep Hughes & Hangeland and they play the way they have over the last two seasons he may well struggle to get first team football.

  • Building for the future, I think. Hughes can’t play forever and Hangeland… well, I think we’re all waiting for someone to come along and poach him. Honestly, if Roy leaves for Liverpool, I think the first thing he’d do is make an offer for Hangeland. That’s what I’d do.

  • Yeah that is worrying. He is a very capable CB once given a run in the side and some confidence, as he showed in 2006 when our side went 10 CL games without conceding with Senderos superbly anchoring the defence alongside Toure more most of those games after Campbell’s injury. Since then, though, he’s never had a sustained run of playing time and a few high-profile errors have shattered his confidence. However, I think he’ll feel under a little bit less pressure at Fulham than he probably did at Arsenal, with the fickle fans that come with top 4 status.

  • If roy has signed him and he is looking forward to playing under roy then im guessing roy is going no where. would he sign if roy was leaving? only to be benched by new manager. at 25 he wants……. he wants to play!

  • Yeh, I’d like to think so, too, but until this Liverpool vacancy is filled or Roy comes out and states publicly that he’s not interested, then I’ll remain concerned, but I agree that it’s a good sign.

  • my only hope is that he’s impressionable… if (sir) roy can get into his head and set him straight, then we’ll have a competent centreback… I am VERY weary of him… i think he’s suspect, and i’m not looking forward to him playing… but i was admittedly against the duff signing when that happened, albeit not as strongly against it… maybe i just don’t know better…

  • Have a strange feeling roy will stay but brad will be gone but at this time our stock has never been higher we dont have to sell any one with all the dosh big mo has in the bank lets start worrying when he decieds to go
