Saturday saw Steve Sidwell make his Fulham debut.

Having recently joined, Sidwell came on as a second half substitute and with the game very much wrapped up, against Stoke, enjoyed a winning start to his Fulham career.

Afterwards, Mark Hughes laid to rest a few myths by explaining why Sidwell came to our part of London and what he can bring the club, commenting,

“He wanted to move back to this part of the world. He`s very keen to get his career back on track on track. We`re pleased he`s here.”

“With a doubt over Dickson (Etuhu) we may need him. He was able to have a nice easy introduction today. He`s always had the energy to get from box to box. He`s been hampered by injuries since he left Reading.”

“Obviously he was at Chelsea when the opportunity to play was more difficult. We know we`ve got a good player.”

“There were a lot of clubs in for him because they understand what he can off. What he needs is consistent football.”

It remains to be seen though whether he gets that at Craven Cottage.
