The acquisition of Nicky Shorey, on loan, appears to have been another bit of shrewd business carried out by Roy Hodgson.
The full back has slipped straight into the starting eleven without any hint of requiring a transition period and talk of a permanent deal, this summer, is sure to follow.
Shorey, having played on the Championship this season, is thankful to be back in the big time and ahead of the clash with Birmingham, has discussed his situation, remarking,
“There`s nothing worse than not playing. I really loved my time at Forest and was looking forward to going back when this move came out of nowhere.”
“I`ve played for England before and I enjoyed it but I`ll leave it for other people to talk about. I`ve two caps and it`s great to play for our country.”
Doesn`t it sort of make all those players who retire from international duty look a little foolish?
