Recently, here at Vital Fulham, we ran an article, Click Here, whereby we reported on how Fulham were looking to bring Norwich City’s exciting young midfielder, James Maddison, to Craven Cottage.

In our article we pointed out how Fulham faced stiff opposition to sign the 21-year-old.

Today, the speculation appears to have moved on a step.

The popular tabloid publication, the Sun, is reporting that the player is close to moving to another Premier League club.

The Premier League club in question being Southampton who, according to our quoted source, have had an offer in excess of £20 million accepted for the player who was rated as one of the brightest young talents in the Championship last season.

I guess it’s a classic case of some you win and some you lose.

Time to look elsewhere we’d suggest.

Maddison, although young, would have been a good long-term acquisition for the club, but I guess it just wasn’t to be.

Has anyone any thoughts as to who Slavisa Jokanovic may turn his attention to when it comes to adding to our quota of midfielders?

Please feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments box beneath this article.

  • Are fulham going to buy any one, seems the fulham board do not want to spend any of the money they recieved for promotion, i wonder why?. They could lose all the players they had on loan as well as the manager i am sure many thousands of Fulham fans feel the same.At this rate we could be back in the championship in 2019.

    • Many thousands feel the same way? Doubt it. The window has barely opened and most players not at the World Cup are still on their holidays.
Who was Maddison going to replace? He is most similar to Cairney and we won’t pay £20m for someone to warm the bench, we ain’t Man City

  • We have some outstanding young players as back up .. look at the Stats for Matt O’Riley..why sign someone who is backup for Tom when we have that back up right here..

  • Peruvian André Carillo looked very good on the right wing against Denmark. He’s with Watford at the moment on loan from Benfica . Might be worth a punt

  • get the players that were on loan last season signed permanantly apart from Ojoe. Then start the season and go from there although i think chambers would be a good signing.

  • The only loans from last season i really want to stay is Targett and Mitro, the others such as Kallas, Piazon dropped off towards the end, Ojo i’ll drop him back up to Liverpool myself.

    My players wishlist would be

Joel Campbell – Arsenal (the guy was good but couldnt get a look in, in the Arsenal squad)
    Chambers
    Krul or Vorm
    Mitro
    Targett
    Ings
    Andre Carillo
