We say goodbye to Mark Schwarzer this evening.

Our Australian keeper, after playing at White Hart Lane this afternoon, will jet off to join the Australian squad of the Asian Cup.

We could be without our first choice keeper for as many as four Premier League games and two FA Cup games, if, as expected; the Australian team do well in the competition.

Speaking about his absence, Mark Hughes had this to say to the media,

“How long will he be away is dependant on how successful they are.”

“Ideally they`ll get knocked out in the group stage. But I`ve looked at the strength of the group they are in and that`s not going to happen, unfortunately.”

“They`re going to be in the latter stages of the competition so you`re looking at three to four weeks.”

Step forward David Stockdale.

The absence of Schwarzer provides another ordeal opportunity for Stockdale to show what he can do, last time when we were in a similar situation, Stockdale excelled and almost earned international recognition before an ankle injury, at Blackpool, ended that particular scenario.

We`ve no doubt that Stockdale will not let us down!
