The wheels of motion are turning slowly, very slowly when it comes to the potential transfer of Mark Schwarzer to Arsenal.

We believe that the two clubs are haggling over a transfer fee for the veteran Australian keeper but that Arsene Wenger is keen to have the affair sorted out in good enough time for Mark to make his Arsenal debut against newly-promoted Blackpool this Saturday.

With David Stockdale displaying such great form it seems strange that with Schwarzer about to depart the tabloid press seem to believe it`ll be a prelude for the arrival of the out-of-favour Shay Given.

Just what does Stockdale have to do to convince the media that he is a more than capable keeper?

  • Probably save 12 penalties in a row and haggle a man out of committing suicide. That should allow some media positivity.

  • One match does not a career make! At the very least, we need a veteran backup just in case Stockdale loses form or is injured.

  • Whilst I think Stockdale is definitely one for the future and we should keep him, is he ready to take the weight of responsibility that being a premiership keeper brings, we after all talking about our premiership status here, he is after all only 24 that is very young for a top flight keeper.

  • he can live up to bolton, can he live up to man u? not crazy about given, but he’s a MARVELOUS shot stopper…
