With rumours surrounding our left-back, Paul Konchesky, being more rife than ever, it appears that Mark Hughes is looking to act quickly to fill in the gap that is likely to be left.

Having already dived into the Eredvisie market, snapping up forward Moussa Dembele, Mark Hughes looks set to return with the capture of versatile PSV defender Carlos Salcido.

It has to presumed that if this goes through, the Mexican international, who heavily impressed during the World Cup, would be a direct replacement for Liverpool-bound Konchesky.

To add a confusing twist to the story, yesterday, Liverpool were seemingly favourites themselves to capture the World Cup star. What happened there is anybody’s guess.

Perhaps he just knows we’re a better football team?
