Fulham head north, to Blackburn, following their best Premier League start for five seasons, however, Roy Hodgson, in the first of many interviews given in the build up to this weekend`s fixtures, has emphasised the need to not get complacent.

It`s widely acknowledged that our current eleven is far stronger than the eleven we started with last season, Hodgson has traded well and there is a slickness, allied with resoluteness, about our play this season.

Roy, eager to keep things going on the same level, spoke about the advantages of having a big squad, although admittedly it is smaller than the one he inherited but of a better quality, remarking that he believes those who perform well deserve another crack of the whip, this is what Uncle Roy had to say,

‘One would like to think that what we do in training challenges people. We don’t want complacency, and the idea of having a squad of players is to have people in there that can play in the first team.’

‘People are given the chance and if they perform well they are entitled to think they deserve another crack at it.”

‘But nobody here will be complacent because they know there are people behind them who can also play well.’

Even more so when you glance across at the bench and spy 7 players waiting for that vital opportunity if you slacken off just that tiniest bit!
