There is no denying that Roy Hodgson has done a fantastic job at Craven Cottage this season and it`s also smashing to hear that the sixty-one year old has aspirations to keep on going.

In fact Roy appears to be looking in the direction of Sir Alex Ferguson, now nearer to seventy than sixty, when he talks about Fulham possibly not being his last job.

Speaking to the Telegraph Roy has remarked,

‘I don’t think this will be my last job.’

‘I’m older than I feel and older than I look. I can’t imagine stopping.”

‘I don’t know where the next job will be. I don’t have unfulfilled dreams as I’ve been at World Cup finals and I’ve been at clubs like Inter, Blackburn and Fulham. I enjoy the work where I am.”

‘My goal would be to keep healthy and have the same ambitions when it comes to working as people like Sir Alex and Sir Bobby (Robson), two friends of mine. I’d like to think there’ll be jobs out there even if this one disappeared.’

Fine sentiments from a fine man but, considering his achievements this season, we`d like to think that although it`s often a phrase used too easily, Roy has a job for life at Fulham.

Wouldn`t you agree!

  • One of the lazy tabloids was trying to use this article to say was thinking of quitting Fulham, typical some people seem to have an agenda where Fulham are concerned.

  • Well, I’m not entirely convinced. At his age, the opportunity to take charge of a Champions League calibre club is fairly compelling and I certainly wouldn’t hold it against him to make the jump. If we have a successful 2009/10, look for someone to try and tempt him. Guaranteed.
