There`s no doubting that Roy Hodgson has a remarkable eye for spotting talent.

He also has no qualms about blooding them in gently, often, to our frustration, keeping them on the sidelines for several weeks / months before they actively become part of the first team set up.

In the summer, Roy signed Bjorn Helge Riise and we`ve yet to see the youngster make much of an impression. But the player hasn`t been slow in coming forward when it comes to discussing a matter close to his heart, his future.

Originally a winger, Bjorn is convinced his future lies in the middle of the park and is quoted as saying,

‘Hodgson has said that I am also competing for a place a little bit more in the centre of the midfield.’

Whether Riise has the physical attributes remains to be seen but the fact he has yet t be given a chance doesn`t seem to have affected his confidence when he`s quoted as remarking,

‘We have only played three games. It is a long season. I will get my chances and want to get on the pitch as soon as possible.’

We too would like to see you make an impact Bjorn, but only when the gaffer believes you are ready mate!
