As we stumbled along through the international period, our latest poll, reacting to the suggestion that several clubs were keen on signing Dickson Etuhu, asked if we should fight to keep him.

Several comments I received suggested that although he`s a decent enough player he`s never going to set the Premier League alight, therefore perhaps we shouldn`t be too concerned about losing him.

But, if that`s the case the majority, according to our poll; disagree.

62% believe that Fulham should fight to keep the player that arrived form Sunderland as opposed to the 13% who reckon we shouldn`t bother.

As for the remaining percentage, that was split quite convincingly between the 21% who opted for the maybe option and the 4% who didn`t have a Scooby-Doo who Dickson Etuhu was!

Who was it who said people can be a strange lot?

  • I can understand people would want to keep him. But if you look at the bigger picture, the money could bring in a much more talented player. It is best to sell a player like Dickson when they are at their best, which is now. I am not saying we SHOULD sell him, but I wouldn’t be disappointed, as long as we got a good price.

  • Persoanlly I can’t see us selling him 12 months into a 3 year deal, unless the offer is too good to turn down!

  • i agree, and i’ve been completely awed at how good he has gotten under roy’s tutelage… i’d leave it up to roy… if he thinks we can bring in a proper replacement, then reap the rewards, but if we can’t replace him, then keep him around.

  • If the price is right, sell him. Otherwise, he’s exactly the type of player we need to give the squad some depth, as he’s not likely to be a starter next season.

  • It is a very good point, we do need depth. But if you look at it like that, you could also say that villa/everton are prepared to splash the cash on a backup player of ours. If we can haggle a good price, I would sacrifice the depth for the cash….
