Our record from the penalty spot is, to put it frankly, appalling!

Last night, for the second consecutive game, Fulham were awarded a penalty and for the second consecutive game, the opposition keeper saved it.

So far this season, Fulham have been awarded 9 penalties. Out of those 9 spot-kicks we`ve scored just 2 and missed an astonishing 7.

Surely it is not that hard to hit the net from twelve yards out!

As for the consequences, could our failure from twelve yards out impact our ambitions of making the promotion play-offs.

But, it is not as if we can blame one player for this clinical waste, although Chris Martin has missed the last two, five different players have taken penalties for Fulham this season.

After the defeat, to Reading, last night, Slavisa Jokanovic spoke about the situation, remarking to the media,

‘We have missed seven penalties this season and it’s a really strange situation and we have to find some sort of solution to this problem.

‘I’ve never heard of a problem like this and it’s a stressful situation for myself and the players.

‘I cannot blame any player, Chris takes a shot from the penalty spot and it’s saved. This is the fifth different player to take a penalty and I can’t blame anyone in particular for this current situation.’

But it seems that our opponents last night, Reading, have also has their problems when it comes to converting from the spot. Reading have also missed 6 penalties this season, although they have had the good fortune to score 5 times out of those 6 misses through rebounds.

Unfortunately, we haven`t had such good fortune!
