Having not had the best of starts to the season and perhaps not being Mark Hughes cup of tea, rumours persist that John Pantsil could be on the verge of leaving Craven Cottage.

The inference being given by one leading Sunday tabloid is that Pantsil could be moving across West London to play for promotion chasing Queens Park Rangers!

Surely not!

  • I think it’s a little short-sighted given our fullback situation, but I’m not terribly bothered by a move.

  • We have no cover at either full back position of any quality so letting Pantsil go in January would be daft unless Huges decides to spend a fortune bringing in 4 or 5 players

  • I thought Salcido would do wonders for us at the back, but as the season progresses he seems to be getting worse. I’d like to see Pantsil get back in the starting 11. When he makes a mistake he makes BIG mistakes, but the obvious passion and effort he brings to the team could really help a group of players who seem to have lost their creativity.
I think a lot of our recent under performance has been due to Danny Murphy. I like Danny, but I think he’s finally lost a step too many. We have relied on him for a long time to provide the creativity out of midfield, but I’m just not seeing it from him this season. He has begun to give the ball away much more cheaply.
We need a central midfielder and we need a goal scorer. Put Pantsil back in the starting 11 and we’ll be ok at the back.

  • I was completely baffled by Pantsil’s exclusion earlier in the season, but based on the form I’ve seen when he has played, I can’t say I blame Hughes. He’s been a liability. He’s also coming to the end of his contract. Bad time for a dip in form. I understand the inclination to cash-in (paltry though it may be). However, we are VERY weak at fullback, so as donfulman stated, unless they’re planning to buy in January, I can’t see how they could let him go. As poor as the fullback play has been, we need help in other areas more desperately.
