He may only have arrived as the make-weight in the deal that brought Bobby Zamora to Craven Cottage from Upton Park but Roy Hodgson clearly saw something that looked a little more than promising.

John Pantsil, with his never-say-die attitude, has become a cult hero down by the River Thames, his robust but honest style has endeared him to the support and he is another who is mourning the loss of Roy Hodgson, having commented about the situation,

“He has been such an important person for me in my career.”

“The boss has transformed my play to a certain level which, I must admit, even if I don`t understand.”

“He`s been amazing to me and I can`t believe he`s going.”

Nor can we John, nor can we!

  • There are a number of players who have had their careers resurrected under Hodgson. Pantsil is a prime example.

  • He’s the most improved player under Hodgson, when he first joined us he was nuts… undisciplined, flying into the tackle and getting caught out of position. Pantsil is now a quality right back for us.
