Fulham – Old Friends to Return!

It took me a while to put two and two together yesterday!

With my mind not fully focused on the football season and with the constant summer rain dampening my spirits it took me quite awhile to actually realise that the Carling Cup draw will be bringing a certain Micky Adams back to Craven Cottage.

Adams, as you`re perfectly all aware, began his managerial career with Fulham back in 1996 and in 1997 oversaw our promotion from Division Three.

Unfortunately the takeover by Mohammed AL Fayed resulted in a parting of the ways so we`ll never know if Adams could have continued the good work he started.

Adams, now manager of our opponents in the Carling Cup second round, also has two other Fulham names amongst his backroom staff – Geoff Horsefield and Mark Grew.

Speaking about the draw for the tie which will be played on Tuesday August 24th, Micky had this to say,

“Obviously when Mr Fayed came in things altered slightly but it`s a fantastic draw for the management team.”

“Geoff was a player there and had a lot of success and, from my point of view, it was where I started my managerial career.”

It promises to be a fascinating night does it not?
