As our squad prepares to take on relegation threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon, I`d like to think we`re not in the relegation mix, although our remaining games do contain some real toughies.

Starting to reflect on the season Mark Hughes is under no illusions as to how it could have turned out so much better, namely if we`d have had a fit Bobby Zamora all campaign, with Sparky putting it like this,

“I am convinced we would be in the top ten of the table if Bobby was fit this season.”

“We have been involved in games where we have had too many draws.”

“If Bobby was involved he would have turned those draws into wins.”

“He is still coming back and is not at the level he was before his injury. We will try to bring him on correctly.”

“He still gets a bit of discomfort from the injury, which he will have for some time.”

“But we know that and that`s why we are working with him over this injury. But it is only a matter of time before he is firing on all cylinders again.”

Just a shame this season is drawing to a close so quickly.

  • Actually i think bobby returning for these games is good as by the time we finish the season he would have had enough games under his belt to feel confident he is back and at the same time he will not have been over streached. Him and AJ will have the summer off and be able to prepare fighting fit for the prem and europa…..hopefully!

  • Zamora’s injury, Pantsil’s 3 own-goals, Dempsey’s penalty miss v. Chelsea… It really could have been a different season. As it stands, we’re still not quite safe. A win against Bolton will do the trick.

  • not quite safe true but a win against bolton could put us up to ninth
if bobby and andy were both fit we could have been looking at 6th or 7th indeed

  • it would have been nice, but it wasn’t the case… time to buck up and win the remaining games that we can…
