When the news steadily leaked that Arsenal were keeping tabs on our next big thing, Chris Smalling, I have to say, I was very concerned.

A big club, with a prestigious talent for producing the best ‘kids’ in the business were after one of ours? Surely, there would have only been one outcome?

However, Roy has today come to the rescue and doused the rumour’s flame, stating that Arsene Wenger had not in fact be in touch and that Smalling is, for the time-being, a Fulham player.

‘If Arsenal are interested, then I guess they better get in touch with us,’ said Hodgson.

‘I have not spoken to Arsene at all. It has never been mentioned, and our chief executive has not spoken to their chief executive, so presumably that means they have got no interest, or the interest is being generated by someone else in the club or outside the club.’

So, has Roy persuaded you that there is no truth in the tabloid’s claims?

  • not sure Arsene would want to pay that much for a squad player, he’s not usually that generous with his transfer cash!

  • I think Smallings will develop better under roy…its early days so lets hope he turns out to be a real gem and we can sell him for 30 million in 5 years time

  • Im now getting a bit annoyed with wenger, he has now said that he has not ruled out an interest in Smallings. He is now playing his mind games…..talking about players to the media but making no official position. Like with our Brede……put up or shut up!!!!
