Fulham – New Brede Link

Once the Chris Smalling deal was finalised, I was happy to accept defeat and take the sale on the chin. After all, the lure of Champions League football was one that the young lad was never going to turn down.

His departure did weaken our defence a little, in the sense that depth has now become an issue, but, again, I had to think positively and the thought of Hughes and Hangeland holding their places was nothing but pleasing.

However, it would seem Sir Alex wants another poke at the Fulham factory line of class defenders, and he really is taking the biscuit with a supposed swipe for Brede Hangeland.

Whilst the rumour has not been circulated Worldwide, there are small suggestions from certain areas of the media that Manchester United are gearing up a £12 million bid to tempt the Norwegian captain up North, where the weather is of course, slightly more Nordic.

Last season it was no secret that United were having defensive issues, which we only highlighting with a fine 3-0 victory at the Cottage; a game in which I remember 2 midfielders filling into their backline.

That fact adds concern to this speculation, however, we can only hope it’s not true.

Surely the Man Utd gaffer wouldn’t steal from us twice in 6 months?
