I`ve always rated Erik Nevland!

His physical presence gives us something extra at front and I`ve always reckoned that he should start more.

Therefore, as the self-appointed chairman of the Erik Nevland Fan Club, it gave me great pleasure to see the Norwegian take centre stage, in the second half, on Saturday.

His performance was, off course, capped by a cheeky goal and after the game Erik enthused about the Fulham performance, remarking,

“In the second half I think we were the better team. It was great when we got to 3-1.”

“It was a good performance. It`s not easy for teams here.”

Last season perhaps, but fortress Craven Cottage has slipped a little this season and, hopefully, this win will go some way to restoring its reputation.

With Diomansy Kamara going off injured, there`s also the chance that Erik could start in Rome on Thursday night when we take on the Italian giants, AS Roma, in the Europa League.

His chance has come because unlike last year whereby injuries were rare, this year we seem to be picking them up left, right and centre, prompting Erik to comment,

“We`ve a bigger squad than last year.”

“Lot`s of players are getting time on the pitch and that helps.”

I guess it does, although you lose the stability a settled side brings at least those coming in are up to speed match-fitness wise.

Bring on AS Roma, I`ve got a good feeling about this one!
