Tonight is the night whereby any aspirations we have of winning a cup this season will either wilt in the north-west if we manage to lose or receive a massive boost if we manage to win!

Geographically, the game couldn’t have been in a worse location, not that I’m knocking Burnley, but after a trek to their neighbours Blackburn on Saturday, the majority of us are flat-broke.

Therefore, for most of us, it’ll be a radio commentary we’ll be listening to as the boys attempt to take us a step nearer to Wembley.

It’s a long time since we graced that part of London and many of us old-timers are eager, too finally, return.

Danny Murphy, our skipper, has tasted success with a previous club and has remarked what it means to him, here’s what Danny had to say,

‘Teams are putting more and more emphasis on winning the Premier League and Champions League these days.’

‘Clubs like ourselves have to make sure we capitalise on that.’

‘Being part of a team that wins a cup is something that stays with you for the rest of your life.’

‘I know how special it is to win a cup and with the squad we’ve got we’re capable of having some good cup runs.’

Here’s hoping that this time tomorrow we’re still in the mix!
