Was there any possible doubt that Danny Murphy would miss that spot kick last night?
Off course not! Danny has a great technique from the twelve yard mark and failures come about as often as a lengthy, hot British summer.
Last week there were rumours doing the rounds that Danny was being linked to a possible move to Stoke as player coach, thankfully those were pretty quickly quashed and instead it`s looking highly likely that he`ll be signing a new contract.
In fact, some quotes printed in the Evening Standard, attributed to Danny, would suggest that a deal is all but done when he remarks,
“It is a case of getting the paperwork done and finalising a few little details. The manager wants me and I want to spend the rest of my career here. There is no doubting that.”
“I get on great with the manager. The team is moving forward. The club is moving forward. We`re looking towards another productive season.”
“I`m the captain. What more do I want? I`m just completely content.”
I think its looks pretty conclusive, from those quotes, that Danny is more than happy to stay, don`t you?

What he has done for us, there is no way we can let him go. Instead of one year contract, give him two year contract.
all i know is that i’ll be more than happy to have him playing at the cottage next season…
fantastic piece of business by the club!
let’s hope the ink gets put on the contract – SOON!
