It`s always great to see players from your club representing their country in a major tournament.

The ‘Confederation Cup` may normally not be granted such status but as a prelude for the 2010 World Cup next summer, a lot of media attention was focussed on South Africa.

With the USA doing so well, it was perhaps inevitable that Clint Dempsey would feature heavily. Earlier this week Samboney ran an article that implied Clint`s performances had seen interest from Everton and the grapevine continues to buzz with the suggestion that other clubs are actively seeking to purchase the player.

Thankfully, so far, according to Clint`s agent, Lyle Yorks, there has been nothing too serious but he admits there has been some interest from clubs based in Spain, Germany, France and England, but categorically states that there has been no official bid from Everton.

Here at Vital Fulham we can`t help think this is one possible transfer that could rumble on and on!

We`ll keep you posted.

  • I hope not, I think under Roy’s guidance there will be more to come from Clint and it would be nice to see a player stay at a club and try and achieve the success he wants by helping the club and team develop. Roy is not just a good manager he is also a top, top coach as well and he can definitely improve players and get them playing better football on a more consistent basis, we?ve all seen that last season, one of the really nice things about last season was that the good Fulham turned up a lot more than the bad Fulham. I know our away form was still long way from where we want to be but it was still a lot better than the last few years and with another year under Roy
I think things will only get better. But saying all that if Clint goes he goes, the real disaster would be if we lost Roy to a bigger club

  • I was gutted the USA didnt win because then Real Madrid would have got their chequebook out and made a £20million +Arjen Robben bid.

  • hhahahaha… nice jules… i would have taken that bid at the moment… but seriously… right after the tournament he made a statement saying how happy he was at fulham and how much he owed his progression as a player to the coaching staff at fulham… i think it would be very daft of him to cash in a good year for a different team, because i honestly think that you can find as good of a coaching staff at a very limited amount of teams in the premiership… especially a staff so willing to help and so willing to let a player work through the hard times…
