Tonight, there`s no doubting we face a tough challenge in our first round Capital One Cup tie away to Wycombe Wanderers.

The Capital One Cup (League Cup) in recent seasons has been littered with incidents of teams from the lower leagues getting the better of more illustrious opponents.

Indeed our opponents tonight strung together a great run in this very competition back in 2007, a run that only ended when they lost a two-legged semi-final to Chelsea.

Affectionately known as the Choirboys, Wycombe will be hoping to commence a similar giant-killing run tonight and Matt Bloomfield, their 31-year-old midfielder, has recalled that epic year they almost got to the final itself, being quoted in The Sun as having remarked,

“I remember the amazing run we had a few years back, you don`t forget that.

“We`ll enjoy playing a big club and everyone knows we have a decent record so they won`t relish coming here.”

Perhaps Fulham won`t relish the tie but I`d expect Kit Symons to have charged them up and if we can play as well as we did down at Cardiff in our opening Championship fixture, on Saturday, then I reckon we will be okay tonight.

How about you?
