Fulham Look To South Wales For A New Left-Back

|

With Premier League football on the horizon, Fulham are looking to strengthen their squad.

The departure, during the week, of Ryan Fredericks to West Ham United may have been a bitter pill to swallow, but life is full of hard knocks you have to bounce back from.

Today, speculation has emerged in the media, and as covered by the news source, the Daily Mail, that Fulham are set to revisit a target they failed to land last summer, namely Joe Bennett.

Bennett, 28-years-of-age, is currently on the books of Cardiff City, who were also promoted to the Premier League back in May.

A cultured left-back, Bennett has a year left on his current contract, a contract that also has a release clause of £2 million.

Our referenced source goes on to suggest that the Cardiff City manager, Neil Warnock, would like to keep the player, however, the insinuation is given that Cardiff City may not be able to match the salary Fulham would be likely to offer the player.

Here at Vital Fulham, we believe Bennett would prove to be a valuable addition to the squad. With Ryan Sessegnon pushed further forward for most of the season, Slavisa Jokanovic brought in Matt Targett on loan from Southampton to play at left-back. But, there is no guarantee that Fulham will be able to persuade Southampton to do a permanent deal for the player. Bennett has the experience needed to fill the gap and at £2 million, could prove to be a bargain buy.
