With the big kick-off, against Newcastle United on August 6th, drawing closer by the day, Fulham made another addition to the squad yesterday.

With Slavisa Jokanovic having, earlier this week, indicated that he needs to bring in new players now, rather than later, to ensure that they become acclimatised to the club before the season starts, the club formally announced that they had signed a central defender on a season long loan spell.

The defender in question is Tomas Kalas, a Czech Republic international who is on the books of our rivals from the other end of town, Chelsea.

Kalas, 23 years of age, has spent the best part of the last two seasons on loan at Middlesbrough. Last season he was part of the Middlesbrough squad that achieved promotion and a return to the Premier League.

Also during his brief career, Kalas has had spells on loan with Vitesse and Cologne.

During a six year Chelsea career, Kalas has only made four appearances with his debut coming in the away fixture, at Anfield, against Liverpool in April 2014.

The season long loan signing makes Tomas Kalas the fourth Fulham summer signing joining Sone Aluko, Floyd Ayite and Michael Madl.

Here at Vital Fulham we`re hoping Kalas can bring a touch of class to our back four and stem the flow of goals that almost proved so costly last season as we flirted with relegation.
