As that transfer window edges towards the shut position, there is sure to be some frantic chat exchanged between various parties as clubs endeavour to do that elusive deal.

With Jimmy Bullard now history and it being widely accepted that our loan signing Giles Barnes is not 100% fit, we suspect that Roy Hodgson, now the Portsmouth match is out of the way, will be frantically searching for some midfield reinforcements, especially with Leon Andreasen also now history.

The latest name to be thrown into the hat, according to SkySports, is that of the former Everton midfielder, Olivier Dacourt.

Dacourt, who is currently playing for Inter Milan, is not in Jose Mourinho`s plans (he`s been restricted to just fifteen minutes of action) and may well welcome a move back to England.

However, at thirty-four years of age, this could be a short term deal, especially with his anticipated partner in the middle, Danny Murphy, also being no spring chicken.

We`ll keep you posted!

  • Saw him at the ground today, good player! old but good, im sure i saw stephen appiah aswell – can anyone comfirm that?!

  • getting on a bit, but could be the missing link between our midfield and frontmen. Was only a couple years back when Wenger wanted him to replace Viera so thats saying something. Just hope he still has the vision and passing accuracy that earned him his French international stripes

  • Appiah is a awesome player. I guess if Spurs didnt want him we should take him immeadatly. Appiah, Murphy in the middle with Dacourt or Delph on the bench…nice

  • `Ollie` would be a great bit of business for the remainder of the season, especially whilst Barnes get into shape.
