As the transfer window prepares to slam shut at 17:00 hours tonight (Monday), it`s perhaps inevitable that a few names are going to appear as potential Roy Hodgson signings.

The latest to do so, as I sit here at approximately 10:00 hours, is a forward called Alvaro Negredo.

Negredo is a forward playing for Almeria in La Liga. This season he`s netted 10 goals in 19 appearances, no mean feat when you`re not playing for one of the bigger clubs in Spain.

At twenty-three years of age he could be a real prospect and a fee in the region of £10 million is being quoted as a possible price.

But, you have to question whether such a fee is the sort of fee we`d band about in this transfer window.

After spending big on Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora and with Erik Nevland in fine goal scoring form, we`d suggest not.

Indeed, we`d be very surprised if we`re sat here tomorrow (Tuesday) commenting on his capture!

  • I WANT HIM! he’s far to good for your crappy team though!! should come to pompey!! but we need experience!

  • Well….MFFP…..our crappy team just beat your team 3 goals to 1….so shut it and jog on back to your own forums!!

  • MFFP do not come on here, or other vital sites, winding people up – it reflects badly on the rest of us pompey fans. and tbh we are not in a position to be slagging fulham, or anyone else off!
i am sorry for this guys…

  • Lol MFFP, go back to your mental home. Well said Pompeyrug, i am a Fulham fan always have and will be but am currently studying at pompy uni so am starting to feel a little sorry for your situation, would much rather the 3 newcomers go straight back down. Probably on sayin this so i can easily catch the fulham away game again next season though :P. Would have liked Negredo, but from what iv seen hes a poacher. As far as im concerned we have one of those, we need a big frontman to hold up and win stuff in the air – could be wrong though as i havent seen much of him
