As the transfer window prepares to slam shut at 17:00 hours tonight (Monday), it`s perhaps inevitable that a few names are going to appear as potential Roy Hodgson signings.
The latest to do so, as I sit here at approximately 10:00 hours, is a forward called Alvaro Negredo.
Negredo is a forward playing for Almeria in La Liga. This season he`s netted 10 goals in 19 appearances, no mean feat when you`re not playing for one of the bigger clubs in Spain.
At twenty-three years of age he could be a real prospect and a fee in the region of £10 million is being quoted as a possible price.
But, you have to question whether such a fee is the sort of fee we`d band about in this transfer window.
After spending big on Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora and with Erik Nevland in fine goal scoring form, we`d suggest not.
Indeed, we`d be very surprised if we`re sat here tomorrow (Tuesday) commenting on his capture!
