Fulham – Left Back?

I’ve already made it quite clear, through commenting on many an article, that I completely missed the tie with Accrington. However, through word of mouth only, it would seem our left back cover, Toni Kallio, didn’t look quite up to scratch against the League 2 outfit.

That, of course, begs the question; Could we do with a bit more quality in that area of the pitch?

No doubting Konchesky is a top drawer full-back, although, he does have his moments. But when it comes to backup for the ex-West Ham man, it would seem we are lacking considerably.

From what I’ve seen of the Finnish lad Kallio, he is more of a centre back than a full back. He’s tall, good in the air, and to be fair to him, lacks the turn in pace that is so often vital as a left back or right back.

On top of that, Roy was very eager to loan Toni out, which only shows that he is certainly not considered first team material.

I for one feel that any backup across the back line should be incredibly reliable and trustworthy when it comes to filling in, considering it is one of the more risky areas on the field. One mistake; And we can be immediately punished.

So, what do you guys think? More cover needed?
