As regards to a week of football at Fulham football club, our away tie against Liverpool has taken a back seat in comparison to the highs of Thursday night.
That, however, doesn’t stop any pre-match media attention, with our own Danny Murphy sticking in his two-pennies worth prior to kick off.
In contrast, Liverpool assistant manager and ex-Bolton gaffer, Sammy Lee, has had only praise and superlatives to speak of regarding Fulham.
He started right at the top with some warming words about Sir Woy, stating;
‘They have got a good man in charge, they are well organised and are a good footballing team who deserve to be in the Europa League semi-finals.
‘I have a great deal of admiration for Roy. He is a nice man and a good man. He knows the game inside out, so I have nothing but respect for him.’
More to the point, Lee felt our away record should be ignored, and that his side face a difficult challenge ahead this afternoon.
‘It will be a very interesting game and we have to do our job because if we don`t do that everything else becomes secondary.
‘If you look at statistics they can tell you everything and nothing so we won`t be taking anything for granted about their record away from home.
‘We are fully briefed on their strengths and weaknesses and it`s about what we do here at this club.’
Whilst he isn’t the most famous or prestigious man we’ve received praise from, it’s welcome and pleasing nonetheless.
