With the news being officially released that Zoltan Gera has passed a medical and joined Fulham, the same BBC Sport article goes on to suggest that Kasey Keller has not been offered an extension to his one year deal, a deal which has all but expired.

It then goes on to mention that Kasey will probably retire, a suggestion that we here at Vital Fulham consider strange.

Kasey did a more than capable job for us last year and is quite capable of playing on with another club. If he were to retire we can only think it`s down to the fact that moving to another club, on a short term contract, would be a major domestic upheaval and that he`d rather return to his roots with his family.

We`ll try and keep you posted if we hear any further news on the subject.

  • he was going to retire before we came in for him. He’s been saying he had more options last year than he has ever had

  • He did a great job in goal…valuable contribution from him. Can’t see where this will go. He’s getting on a bit, and the arrival of Schwarzer and Stockdale sure signals the end for Keller at Fulham. I guess it depends who offers him a contract, if there’s nothing good, he may well call it a day.

  • He seems to be getting a bit of work in the media mainly pundit work. Maybe he’s retiring to do that.
