Fulham – Keeper Whisper?

It`s something we`ve touched on before after a rumour appeared in one of the many tabloid gossip columns we have access to and it`s something that has reared it`s head again.

Probably because Bolton Wanderers have just announced that they are now willing to listen to offers for their Oman international keeper Ali Al Habsi!

With the January transfer window set to open very shortly, we suspect that this announcement has come to somewhat force an issue whereby Bolton want to use the possible cash from the sale to use to bolster their own squad.

Al Habsi is currently on loan at Wigan where his form has been such that the England international, Chris Kirkland, has been forced onto the bench. Therefore, you`d suspect that Wigan would be given first choice.

However, the potential price tag, of £5 million, may well rule them out of contention which has, in turn, caused the names of several other clubs, including that of Fulham, to be mentioned as possible destinations.

Now we`re having trouble understanding just why we seem to be continually linked with his lad. Apart form having two very well respected keepers on our books, in Mark Schwarzer and David Stockdale, I have major reservations as to whether Mark Hughes would be wanting to splash a significant amount of his transfer kitty on a position where we`re adequately covered!
