Sometime in the summer, someone will look back and contemplate just what that quaint little club down by the river achieved in those final few weeks of the season.

From being stuck in 19th position, since that defeat at St Andrews, we’ve somehow managed to escape relegation by the skin of our teeth.

Despite our perilous position, I got the feeling that, out of those deemed relegation candidates, the majority of supporters wanted us to survive.

I guess it’s some sort of appreciation of th efact that a trip to Craven Cottage is always a pleasurable affair, to some it must remind them of days gone by, of days when football wasn’t part of the corporate sector but belonged to the working classes.

Hopefyly, our flirtation with doom this season will become a thing of the past as, under Roy Hodgson, we’ll strive to imporve and secure a mid-table position.

At the start of this article, I mentioned that sometime this summer someone will sit down and work out what we did to achieve survival.

Well I’ll save them the trouble!

We took twelve points out of the last fifteen on offer, in other words we won four out of our last five games, something not even that pair at the top of the table could manage.

Some feat, some great reward!

Well done lads, you did us proud!
