It`s a fact I never knew but on reflection it`s a fact that should have hit me between the eyes.

It`s only when you think back that it becomes so blatantly obvious.

So what am I harking on about you may ask?

Well, it`s come to light that he reason why Fulham and our neighbours form down the road never play on the same day at home is all down to the creaking tube network.

Apparently, there is an agreement concocted up by the FA, the Police and the two clubs.

You see, they`re a little worried that the ‘District Line` will be unable to cope with the influx of 67,000 supporters travelling to and from the homes of the two clubs.

If you doubt this pearl of wisdom, the words of a police spokesman might help to understand the vagueness of it all when he remarks,

‘If supporters got on at say, Earl’s Court, heading for either Fulham Broadway or Putney Bridge – you can imagine what that would entail.”

‘This is a factor that Hammersmith and Fulham Council would consider hard to sanction as the final voice.’

So, now you can see why Roy Hodgson is so livid that Fulham have to play on Sunday, against West Bromwich Albion, and Tuesday, against Swansea City.

We couldn`t possibly interfere with a lucrative Champions League match our neighbours are participating in could we?
