Okay, I know that, deep down, I didn’t expect to find us nominated for a top-six finish by any football pundits but I at least hoped they’d give us a fair crack of the whip!

After all, Roy Hodgson has done a great job in dispensing with those past their prime and bringing in some players who could make all the difference.

So reading television pundit, Mark Lawrenson’s verdict on or prospects for the season has left me a little flat.

Lawro, in an article on BBC Sports has commented,

‘Roy Hodgson did a sensational job to keep Fulham in the Premier League last season. I remember the day they were 2-0 down at Manchester City and came back to win 3-2 – it was a result that gave them the sense of belief from which they really kicked on.

Hodgson is a wily old fox, who does not get too excited by victory or downcast in defeat. He is a planner who has improved his squad over the summer. I think they will struggle in some areas but overall I think they will finish top of the bottom six.

So what do we reckon?

Is top of the bottom six a successful season or has Lawrenson under-estimated us?

  • Lawro’s predictions suck balls anyway! Every week I check to see what he says Fulham’s score will be for the upcoming fixture! Every week he gives us utterly no chance. Even against teams that we beat easily last season! To be honest him giving us this predicition isn’t as bad as it seems. If he places us above the relegation zone for once, I’d say that translates as a good looking season to come in his opinion! Still, can’t say I wouldn’t be happy at finishing 15th!

  • How many of these so called expert pundits have ever cut the mustard as successful managers though!

  • With RH in charge and with the business we’ve done in the transfer window I reckon 10-12th. Who gives a stuff about Lawrenson and his ‘really interesting’ commentary style on BBC?

  • Just checked up the BBC website again!

    Hull v Fulham

I find Fulham really interesting. Roy Hodgson did a brilliant job to keep them up and his chairman has decided to really back him by bringing in strikers such as Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson as well as plenty of other new players.

But promoted teams can be horrible to play in the first six games because each one is like a cup final for them and there will be a fantastic atmosphere at the KC – and I’m tipping Phil Brown’s Hull to get off to a winning start.

    Verdict: 1-0

What total and UTTER bottom poo!
It’s true a promoted side will always be very up for their first few games but that doesn’t mean they’ll win them. Firstly I can’t look past them not conceding any goals. Their defence is nowhere near strong enough to keep any clean sheets this season apart from against Stoke. Secondly I doubt they’ll get a goal!
Fingers crossed we shut Lawro up this season!
