Okay, I know that, deep down, I didn’t expect to find us nominated for a top-six finish by any football pundits but I at least hoped they’d give us a fair crack of the whip!
After all, Roy Hodgson has done a great job in dispensing with those past their prime and bringing in some players who could make all the difference.
So reading television pundit, Mark Lawrenson’s verdict on or prospects for the season has left me a little flat.
Lawro, in an article on BBC Sports has commented,
‘Roy Hodgson did a sensational job to keep Fulham in the Premier League last season. I remember the day they were 2-0 down at Manchester City and came back to win 3-2 – it was a result that gave them the sense of belief from which they really kicked on.
Hodgson is a wily old fox, who does not get too excited by victory or downcast in defeat. He is a planner who has improved his squad over the summer. I think they will struggle in some areas but overall I think they will finish top of the bottom six.
So what do we reckon?
Is top of the bottom six a successful season or has Lawrenson under-estimated us?
