Fulham – Ireland Up for Grabs?

I still can`t help thinking that our failure to name a successor to Roy Hodgson is going to hamper us in the transfer market.

Although I accept that the window doesn`t close until the end of August there are other things to take into consideration – integration, fitness and availability.

One player who could be open to a move to Craven Cottage is the Manchester City midfielder, Stephen Ireland.

If the red-tops are to be believed then Manchester City are looking to off-load some of their players and with the red-tops also reporting that Ireland has had a falling out with Roberto Mancini then he could be ours to grab.

Ireland is quoted in the re-tops this morning as having been linked to several clubs, ours included, when he`s quoted as having said about his situation,

“It didn`t go well for me last season, when there were a lot of changes at the club, but it`s only a season ago that I was player of the year and my view is that I haven`t become a bad player overnight”

“Hopefully the manager doesn`t think that either.”

“I`ve heard about supposed interest from Sunderland, Fulham and maybe even Aston Villa, but I haven`t heard anything directly. I`m not going to rush into things.”

The last few words seem quite appropriate to me, seeing as we`re not appearing to be rushing into things naming our latest manager!
