In the Evening Standard yesterday evening (Wednesday) there was a fascinating feature relating to how much, on average, a London football fan would spend, per game, attending a home fixture.
It was no surprise that our near-neighbours, Chelsea, proved to be the most expensive at a whopping £99. Thankfully, we here at Craven Cottage were in mid table and in the unique position of being able to almost attend two games for every one the Chelsea supporter could afford to go to.
Unfortunately, any whoops of delight have been curtailed by the announcement that Fulham are to wear kit manufactured by Nike next season.
Now whilst we see it as a move forward and an acceptable hazard in supporting a team that can, hopefully, only do better next season, it doesn`t curtail the inevitable expense of having to fork out for the new kit.
Anyone with young children will recognise that to wear an out-dated kit is so yesterday! Therefore, brace yourselves for a significant financial outlay in July when the new shirt is available for purchase.
My biggest regret though is that Pony will not be our kit suppliers, can you imagine the headlines after yet another below par performance?
