Fulham – Ill Prepared on our Travels

Another loss on the road….to a side we comfortably dispatched earlier this season.

I am sat here wondering why this is.

Of course I came up with the predictable reasons of an upset support who blame the opposition, players, injured players and ref.

But now I am particularly struck by the fact that it appears the players travel on the day of the game.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

We turned up late at Stoke and many times over the years this has been a regular feature, in respect to travelling to the north.

With the ever growing importance of every game week in week out, I wonder if ever a Premier League team has made it policy to travel a day before a game, especially when its long distances.

I know this happens in the cup at times.

The old saying of ‘never got off the bus’ springs to mind. Most of our injuries are being picked up away from home. Bobby and dempstar!!! are recent examples.

Personally I know what it is like to play a team sport and the issues of travelling away on the day of the game. Early rise, cold, on the bus, cold, half asleep, cold, arrive at ground stiff, cold…. I just wondering would going a day early to the games in the north mean we would be more relaxed and better prepared.

Plus increase team bonding….not that I feel we need this at the morning.

The cost for a night at a hotel…..a whole morning to relax and get treated, rub-downs etc. talk tactics and get the head switched on for the game. Eat and hydrate and then a short trip to the game.

Not sitting on your backside for hours playing cards and chatting about you latest conquest or not! (oops sorry for last bit, personal that was) Preparation, preparation, preparation is what it is all about!

Your thoughts please?
