Last night, after scoring the two goals that ensured he has a place in our history books, Clint Dempsey received a glowing tribute from his manager.

Mark Hughes, paying tribute to the tireless work our American has done, often in trying circumstances, had this to say,

“Clint has been really important for us, certainly in the early part of the season when we were struggling, I had to play him up there on his own on occasions.”

“He still makes an impact even when he doesn`t score – and it has been a long, hard season for him.”

A long, hard season but, apart from the penalty miss against Chelsea, I reckon Clint will have enjoyed every minute of it.

  • what a blight on a fantastic season… a chance to put a knife in the side of our biggest rivals and spurned… but i’ll trade that miss for his 12 goals this season…

  • agree woody…..if only, but yes if dempsey continues like this over the next couple of games….player of the season me thinks!
