Fulham – Hughes on Spotting Talent!

The signing of Moussa Dembele raised a few eyebrows.

Having been in charge at Manchester City, prior to joining us, many pundits suspected that Mark Hughes would be only able to pursue the expensive end of the market, obviously neglecting that Mark was pretty damn good at wheeling and dealing with the lesser known players during his time at Blackburn Rovers.

Dembele didn`t exactly cost a fortune but he is a great talent and a talent that can be nurtured considering he`s still relatively young.

After the one-sided victory over Wigan Athletic, on Saturday, Mark enthused about dabbling in the transfer market and putting his reputation on the line rather than buying a so-called superstar, remarking,

“I enjoy the part of spotting a player`s potential.”

“Maybe it was forgotten I could do that when I was at City as people thought I could cherry pick players, spending a lot of money.”

“But prior to that, at Blackburn, I had a record of picking good players. I back my judgment.”

To back that judgment up we could also mention a certain Carlos Salcido but that`s another story!
