There`s no doubting that the awful injury Bobby Zamora suffered took the gloss off of our first Premier League victory of the season.
The realization that we`re likely to be without our star striker until January 2011, at the minimum, will hurt us as a team.
Following the last gasp win, over Wolves, Mark Hughes spoke about Bobby`s injury and also the tackle that caused it, remarking,
“Bobby got to a point where he was performing at a really high level, producing week in and week out.”
“He has been banging on the door for England and now he`s out for four months minimum. The surgeon now has to go in and find damage other than the break, which is four centimeters above his ankle. So it`s likely that he will be out even longer. Bobby seemed in good spirits when I spoke to him but that was probably the gas he`s been taking.”
“I don`t blame the player for the tackle. There is always a danger when you tackle from the side or from behind.”
“But there was no intent. I was a bit disappointed that the referee didn`t even view it as a foul though.”
With Bobby out for a long time, does anybody know when Andrew Johnson, another long term injury, is likely to return to assist Moussa Dembele?
