First it was Tony Pulis and now it appears to be Roberto Mancini who has wound up Mark Hughes.
Following the well-earned 1-1 draw up at the City of Manchester Stadium yesterday, a draw that would have given Mark great satisfaction, Mark wasn`t too happy about the manner in which the usual after-match handshake was offered by his opposite number.
Explaining his actions, Mark commented to the media,
“It`s probably my fault again but I`m a little bit old fashioned. I always think if you offer your hand, it should be accepted regardless of the circumstances. Sometimes it`s difficult.”
“I had to offer my hand and do it with sincerity when my team was beaten 4-1 by Roberto`s – I acknowledged that his team was better and he deserved a handshake with sincerity.”
“Maybe I misread it but I just didn`t think Roberto acknowledged the efforts of my team and how well we`d done, by the manner of the way he offered his hand. Was it payback for what happened at our place?”
“I don`t recall doing that. I think he`s incorrect.”
Personally, I wouldn`t have even offered my hand to somebody who jumped behind my old desk before the seat had even cooled, would you?
