What a peculiar situation!

According to a report that has surfaced in the papers this morning, our managerial situation looks to be getting complicated.

Seemingly, the contracts of Mark Hughes, Eddie Niedzwiecki and Mark Bowen stipulate that all three are free agents from June 1st giving the club precisely three weeks to sort the situation out.

It`s a fact confirmed by quotes form a club insider that read,

“The public perception is that Hughes is tied to a two year contract.”

“There is an option for a further year after this but the break in service effectively makes the entire management team free to leave at the end of this month.”

It could be a hectic three weeks then to get the deals sorted before the summer break occurs!

  • Fair or unfair, I’ve not been impressed with Hughes. Sorry, I know most of you like him, but I don’t. Perhaps I should give him a full summer to retool the squad and fully implement his style before casting judgement, but I have my doubts.

  • Looks like a cheap paper thrill – don’t think our board was so unsure hiring Sparky to include this kind of option, he’s a proven specialist not a rookie

  • I hope he stays; I think he could be a good manager for us. He needs a chance to bring some more players to make the squad his own; I also think that if Bobby hadn’t got injured when he did we would have had an even better season and if we can finish in the top 10 then it will have been a good season.

  • how odd? Very strange that, he going to be sniffing for another job or do you think he’ll be loyal? Loyal in football? Silly question. What do you guys think of him at Fulham?

  • he may not be (sir) roy, but he has performed this season, and deserves another go… i will give him a slight pass in that he had three weeks before the season started to organize the team… i won’t give him a pass for bobby’s injury, because that’s football, and you have to be able to deal with injury… he did perform well in the transfer market… dembele’s a gem, salcido is servicable, kakuta looks up for it, and gudjohnsen was some added experience for the run in… let him clear out some players and bring in some more and see where it gets us… we should be aiming to finish between 9th and 6th next season, and let’s see what we can accomplish…

  • For what it’s worth, I just read a statement from Hughes indicating that he intends to be at Craven Cottage next season. So, that’s that?

  • I hate to say this about an ex-manc, but I like him as a manager. He’ll do well with Fulham given the chance. If your owner stops spending money on statues like Hangeland, you’ll be fine with him 🙂
